My name is Gary Bowman.  As Superintendent/Executive Director of California Montessori Project, I have the opportunity to serve an incredible learning community, including students, staff and families.  In my spare time, I enjoy family outings in the rivers and mountains of northern California.  In addition, I enjoy writing, recording and performing original songs.

From the Superintendent

2013-2014 School Year

Dear Parents and Guardians:

On behalf of the faculty and staff of California Montessori Project, I extend a warm welcome to our new and returning families. I appreciate your trust and support…thank you for choosing CMP!

Serving over 2000 students on seven campuses as we enter our 13th year of operation, CMP continues to pursue “Excellence in Education.”

I am especially excited about the opening of a new CMP-Elk Grove facility on Bradshaw Road. CMP has collaborated with numerous agencies over a 10-year period to arrive at this point! We are grateful for the overwhelming support we have received, and are looking forward to serving students and families at the new site. CMP is also collaborating with the Cosumnes Community Services District to renovate the CMP-EG site on Elk Grove Blvd. Further, we are collaborating with the Carmichael Recreation and Parks Department for the extensive renovation of the 200 and 300 wings at CMP-Carmichael (La Sierra Community Center). CMP-Shingle Springs is poised to construct a new school, as well, anticipating a completion date during the 2014-15 school year. CMP-Capitol, CMP-American River and CMP-Orangevale continue to lease facilities through their respective Districts.

Three other areas of special interest in the coming year are 1) CMP’s network-wide alignment of Common Core Standards with Montessori Methodology, 2) CMP’s preparation for acquisition and implementation of a Wide-Area-Network (WAN), and 3) expansion of CMP’s Special Education Team.

In closing, we have the opportunity to promote sense of mission, respect, and dignity within our learning community. We believe that, through our collaborative efforts, California Montessori Project can be the vehicle that allows us to raise our children as responsible, caring, and productive people, fully prepared to contribute to their local and global communities. Thank you for joining us on this amazing journey!
