IDEA

IDEA of 2004, was originally enacted by Congress in 1975 to ensure that children with disabilities have the opportunity to receive a free appropriate public education, like other children. IDEA sets high standards for their achievement and guides how special help and services are made available in schools to address their individual needs.

Infants and toddlers with disabilities birth through 2, and children 3 through 21 who meet the definition of one of the specific disabilities applicable to school-age children are covered under IDEA.

California Montessori Project operates charter schools in Sacramento and El Dorado Counties, serving students in the elementary grades transitional kindergarten through eighth. For children with special needs enrolled in California Montessori Project schools, parents should contact their charter school principal to ask about programs and services.
